Downtown Long Beach is an especially great place to be during the holiday season. Unfortunately, every year there is a significant increase in break-ins and petty crime in our condominium and apartment communities. Here are five things you can do to reduce crime.
- Don’t let people follow you in the building. This goes for pedestrians and cars.
- Make sure doors close and latch behind you. If you don’t check it, the criminals will.
- Lock your car. People are sneaking into our garages almost every night looking for unlocked cars.
- Don’t leave anything of value in your car. If you don’t remove your valuables, the criminals will.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Criminal activity goes up when we let our guard down.
We encourage you to make habits of these tips. With all the holiday cheer, it is possible to let a brief lapse in judgment ruin the season. Keep your head and your eyes open. Spend time with friends and family. Let’s make this holiday season a happy one!
